Instructional Technical Writer

WordPress VIP's Learning & Credentialing Team is looking for an experienced technical writer or developer familiar with writing for a developer audience to help us continue to create quality course content for learn.wpvip.com, our Enterprise WordPress learning management system. This person will work closely with our team’s engineer in researching, writing, and editing new course content based on a curriculum outline drafted by our instructional designer.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, write, and edit learn.wpvip.com instructional material based on a prepared curriculum outline, focusing on new course development.
• Gather information from subject-matter experts to develop, organize, and write course content.
• Work with the Learn Team to identify audience resources for course development and determine the best applicable examples.
• Design interactive instructional materials, including course content, exercises, and skills evaluations, using current principles of adult learning and instructional design.

Skills & Background

• Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer.
• Ability to quickly learn, understand, and relay complex technical subject matters. Familiarity with WordPress development would be advantageous.
• Experience in writing instructional and educational content for a software developer audience.
• Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Bonus Skills

• Background and experience in instructional design.
• Enterprise WordPress development knowledge and experience, including deep expertise in block editing and Gutenberg.
• Experience with setting up new learning materials that contribute to a credentialing program.

This is a 3-month contract averaging 15-20 hours/week. The expected start date is Jan 6th, 2025.
