About
Scott Williams is a creative based in New York City. In 2017, he started a creative studio focusing on Creative Direction, Brand Building, and Content. He has extensive experience in editorial design, advertising, and marketing in the fashion, lifestyle, and beauty industries.
Previously, he was the Director of Brand Creative at Kate Spade for the brand's digital expression and formerly the Advertising Design Director at Barneys New York, where he established the design direction of brand creative on everything from advertising to digital to in-store. He was also the Associate Creative Director for North America at Avon, responsible for developing a more modern and sophisticated brand image for their color, jewelry, and fashion divisions. Following that, he was the Creative Director at C. Wonder, leading and developing 360-degree, omnichannel creative for the brand.
After studying film and video in school, he learned the craft of design by working on magazines like Interview, Nylon, Domino, Teen Vogue, and more, where he honed his skills. He draws on much of this experience when developing brand narratives and brand experiences.
His love for narratives and story-telling informs all of his work. He is drawn to authenticity, emotional connection, and exploring how that translates to an audience. He is in his element when creating work with a strong point of view and strives to add to our cultural conversation versus just making noise.
In 2023, he launched Upstate Studio, a small design and branding studio in Woodstock, New York, to offer top-level creative to smaller brands, local businesses, and cause-based organizations.
His additional clients include Calvin Klein, EMI Records, Savage X Fenty, Sephora, Vera Wang, and agencies including Be Good Studios, Look, Nautica, Laird + Partners, Publicis Worldwide, Sweden Unlimited and more.
